I felt at the time, and still do, that Powell knew exactly the scam the neo cons were running. He knew exactly how he was being used. He didn't like it, but he did not have the guts to disclose it. We'll just have to disagree on this one. This issue goes to the heart of Powell's character--which by all accounts that I have read--is Mr. Straight Shooter. He just got taken advantage of by the Rovian and Wolfitz types. But I admit we will never know for sure on this. It's just that I have never seen or heard anyone else allege what you have here about him.
