Thanks RW and Baton,

This is why I have continued to hold the rest of my VOD after trimming it some earlier in the year.

I have decided to sell my shares. Does not mean I will not buy again, but I am taking the money and running for now :)

Re: VOD

I will hold the rest of my VOD shares too as if it is an all stock deal, there will also be no tax event if/when I receive my new VZ shares. I will maintain my low cost basis in VOD (at $25.00/share) in the new VZ shares.

As I hold all of my VZ and VOD shares in a taxable account, any sale now only results in a 20% or more tax on the capital gain which results in a larger year in tax bill and less cash (at least 8% less after the taxes are paid) to deploy into new dividend payers.

The only other portfolio decision is I lose exposure in Europe while upping my U.S. telcom exposure. I may look to add one or more Non U.S. dividend payers if the opportunity presents its self. I am looking at adding to Yara International ASA (ADR)(OTCMKTS:YARIY) which pays it's dividend every May. The yield is close to 6% (before Foreign Taxes). There are other's I am looking at including BP but I think better buys will be around after the VOD/VZ deal if it ever gets done.

FWIW, I did sell 25% of my VOD shares earlier this year when there was discussion of a deal to at least book some gains if no deal could be done.
