There is plenty of evidence. Just look at how our economy has been doing for the past few decades. The majority of Americans are worse off than they were in the 1970s. Social mobility is now lower than it is in many developed countries. For the past decade the only beneficiaries of productivity increases has been at the top. The list goes on. The ills of wealth concentration are well known. I already detailed what the wealthy do with their money. Investment is fine, but it cannot replace consumer spending. For that to happen, consumers need money to spend.
