You should read more about the WWI and WWII eras, where lots of political experimentation was going on between Fascism, Communism, Marxism. Capitalism, Socialism, etc. It's really illuminating how various brand of economic thought translated to political thought and vice versa. What history tells us is that economics and politics are connected and that certain types of politics lead to certain types of economies and the reverse is also true. It's one of my favorite subject and I've spent decades studying the effect. The patterns are obvious to anyone who reads about all of that.
