Well, I think we are rich enough to provide every American with food, housing and healthcare. But, it doesn't have to be as nice as the public housing I worked on, which was nicer than the shack I lived in while working on it! Provide America's welfare recipients with barracks-style housing separated by sexes, with the children sleeping in their own barracks at night. Feed them in cafeterias, not via food stamps. Make being a public assistance recipient livable, but not at all comfy or desirable.
