That is an interesting post as it does give a little insight as to typical liberal behavior -- "I can't help you with your immediate problem, but I support the raising of taxes. It may not make you feel better, but it will make ME feel better."

I'm really picky about how I spend my contribution dollars. I will contribute to St. Judes because I believe that organization is excellently managed and does great work. But for the most part, I feel I have done a lot more for people when I can do something that helps them. It would never occur to me to funnel money through government if I saw a person who was in need.

I love the crowd-funding options that are available today. It brings out the best in people because they can help someone directly. I routinely look through those things to see someone who I think deserves it. Not just looking to give away money but to give someone an opportunity who really wants to do something interesting. And if you're careful, your contribution dollars go a long way toward making a difference, unlike tax dollars that are destined to help no one.
