"unemployment roles"

That's "rolls", Dave. Sometimes your lack of education outs.

They aren't doing that in Australia, where McDonalds worker ARE paid $15/hr.

But, I'm sure that MANY jobs will be replaced by clever software and robots or a combination in the near future. A reality we're living with now is that tax preparers have largely been replaced with software. I'm sure accountants are next.

Because once the software or robots or software/robot combo has been amortized, other than maintenance and electricity, their labor is essentially FREE 24/7/365, no benefits, holidays or vacations required. What for profit business can ignore THAT fact?

So, it will happen sooner that we expect, that MOST jobs will vanish, for humans. I'm not aware of any economist or social planner working that problem. How will we all live, with no jobs? I'm thinking we'll need some SERIOUS socialism.
