Coms/Awre ....

Hi Scrapps,

sounds like the article posted by N. Klein (Inter@active Week) was written before the adi/comms 56k silicon announcement.... and altho the article seems to imply that all is well with ti/coms... that coms is using adi over ti for x2 seems to say something else....

and that would seem to make awre a potentially very tempting takeover target not only for coms competitors, but for coms itself...

If there are problems with the c6x for adsl, coms could well look elsewhere for adsl silicon, just as they are now looking to adi for x2 system on a chip...

First on the list would seem to be adi/awre... from comments make by awre's management re the 56k silicon, adi seems to be heading towards the system on a chip with dsp core for adsl... key would seem to be where they are in development and how fast the adsl market moves...

Seems that there is a very good chance that the system on a chip with a dsp core will turn out to be a more effective adsl solution than a general purpose dsp such as the c6x... which i am guessing will still be part of a chip set solution..

Any techies out there? How many components for c6x adsl complete modem??

Am not in awre, but own coms via usrx... was somewhat disheartened to read recently that much of coms xdsl talent has left for startups...

best wishes
