Neeka, from a trailerist's POV, you are some kind of a purest!

Perhaps!

We've camped at every kind of camp ground the exists in the U.S., and we always come back to back country camping. We don't like crowds, and we love to fly fish, and commune with nature without a human audience. There is nothing greater (ioo) than seeing a herd of deer or elk wander through our camp area being led by a big spike or buck. Or standing on a bluff overlooking a wild river watching a pair of osprey feeding their young. Or hiking up a trail and seeing a bear at the rivers edge going after salmon. Or watching a young family of mergansers or harlequin ducks bob down a river.

We've seen all of that and more in several western states. In a lot of instances, and to get that close to wildlife, you have to go way in on washboard laden forest service roads that dead end some place that is very cool.

The rig Roadwalker posted would work very well for that kind of camping. Dusty seems to have what it takes to get that far into the wilderness + travel down the freeway at 80 miles an hour to get there, and we own her free and clear.

We like to unhitch and take back country excursions with the SUV too.

We're not resort hoppers, nor do we own any camping memberships.
