Yes, education is critically important. But even highly educated people can be amazingly ignorant of current events. I see it among my own friends, who generally mostly have advanced degrees. So education isn't the only solution. People have to be interested in this country's political future, knowledgeable about our rights, and make their voices heard to avoid a sliding towards a loss of freedom. As Ben Franklin once said, we need to guard our freedoms jealously.
