"It still is in the Republicans interest to find out if they are getting bang for their buck."

Anyone who's been paying attention realizes that ideology is EVERYTHING with current Republicans. Most unblindered Republicans realize that if they don't find some way to attract some Hispanic votes, due to demographics, they'll never own the presidency again. Yet, all such efforts have been hooted down.

. . . . . . but probably solvable if we let social scientists of both persuasions design the study.

That strategy will only lead to politically inspired debate. And no serious research Since each side will understand why they are picked, they'll push for their results.

Just see to it that money is available to serious social researchers. Leave the politics out so far as possible. The work will get critiqued in the serious journals. It's actually quite simple.
