As has been pointed out before, FDR had a (D) congress. Even the (R)'s of his day, humbled by the Great Depression, were inclined to compromise.

Well he got a full blown fight didn't he on passing Obama care and spent a good deal of political capital on it, and Bentway has made the point about FDR and having Dem majorities.

IMHO, what you are saying doesn't comport with the political realities of the Republican agenda and what it is possible to do in light of that..
