So long as al-Assad remains democracy does not have a chance in Syria. With him gone, the playing field is leveled and there are people in Syria who want to be free.

well i guess you haven't been paying attention... Obama has explicitly stated they are not trying to assassinate Assad and their goal is not regime change, unless you think Obama has been lying

there would probably be even more "killing fields" from the different factions who would fill the void... so lobbing bombs at the presidential palace for the fun of it doesn't make much sense

bottom line there are no good options... the option of doing nothing militarily is becoming more clear as the best option
