imagine that, we do have common ground. We have made many foreign policy mistakes in the mideast, but I believe that this one will have a domino effect that will cause an escalation that we don't want to see. I know that some people consider me a whackjob for believing this, but we know that Iran wants to escalate. Read up on the 12th Imam to get some perspective on this. And we know that the muslim world in general resents our meddling in their affairs. And at this time, the west is fractured. Which means that we will be perceived as weak and going in alone. And we have been at war in Iraq and Afghanistan for a long time. So we are fractured at home too. But the reason to stay out of Syria isn't the threat of escalation. The reason to stay out of syria is that people need to find their own way to liberty, if that's what they want. We can't export our political ideologies by force. The whole chemical weapons thing is a farce and an excuse to engage. And as you point out, if the Crips and the Bloods are going to fight it out on their own turf, does it make sense to assist one over the other?

No, Obama is the one that said gassing MUST be accompanied by bombing. He said gassing was a RED LINE that must NOT be crossed. If he doesn't follow up then WHAT'S his word worth???? Syria and Russia AREN'T going to retaliate... This has all gotten blown up into such a big deal. That's ONLY because Obama HIMSELF has made it so...
