OJ & Judy:

Regarding IOM I'm starting to finally see some drops in the jaz 1G cartridge prices. ($30 rebate on package of 3) Zip drive cartridges have plenty of competition but I assume IOM receives a royalty.

With lower prices IOM has to be improving yield, etc. to keep up margins. Not sure how well they're doing at that. Just one piece to factor into your trading.

Judy we've discussed insurance before and it sounds like you need some. Not only a systems backup for your data but also surge and power??

On systems I recommend the Jaz (someone with tape may recomend a tape backup but I went with the Jaz for speed and portability, although to date I've needed neither). Syquest is not as fast as IOM and IOM has the greater market share for compatability / portability.

I run under WIN 95 and save all my data files to one directory with many subdirectory's. All my system files can be reloaded and I have norton utilities to boot up (I'm happy I haven't had to try this, yet) I have two Jaz cartridges (the $129 for # 2 was the pain since I became very frugal early this year). All I do is copy the main directory to the jaz cartridge (and all data files). Previously I had to pick and choose around 10 different directories (word, excel, etc.).

Major downside on portability is it will need to be a 1G jaz drive (the new 2G are not compatable with the 1G).

Around every two weeks (every week in Jan. through April) I erase the oldest backup and recopy the current data. Leaves me with the latest data and a copy one week old.

I had the drive preinstalled when I ordered my Gateway system and just purchased the extra cartridge. Total cost around $550. Not inexpensive with a major downside on portability is the recieving PC will need to have a 1G jaz drive (the new 2G are not compatable with the 1G). Of course this downside is similar with all back up systems.

For me its a cost of doing business but I've reached the point if I lose a week of files I'm in trouble.

Just a basic insurance policy. You can tell I was in insurance awhile.

Speaking of insurance I'm still not sure AET has turned the corner (while the AMA letter was inaccurate preception is half the battle and the rumor has it that AET will have a more difficult time wining price concessions from doctors. While this is an industry problem it may be more severe @ AET over the near term) and OHP is in much worse shape than todays WSJ article indicated.

TRV & AIG are still the safe investments.

Best regards,

Tim

Jer:

CALM---Calm-----calm

Pull up the charts from the olden days on Silky Sullivan, ol son.
He was the BEST stretch running horse ever to grace the shores of the USA.
If the current racing calling termonology were used for him ........it would be ..........

Out of the gate , the worst start has made Sullivan lose contact with the field

In the far turn Silky Sullivan is making a concerted bid to catch the horse in front of him and both are far out of it

At the top and into the turn, Sullivan has passed but a single horse but is reaching his best stride

In the turn Silky has it in gear and is closing fast but a long way to go to catch the pace setters

Coming down the lane, Silky Sullivan has DRAWN A BEAD on the field and is making a strong bid and is COMING on the outside

At the sixteenth pole stide by increasindg stride Silky is making up an unbelievable amount of ground against the leaders and he is COMING STRONG

HE IS-- GAINING ----AND --CAN ---HE -GET----- THERE--

At the wire----ITS SILKY SULLIVAN BY A NOSE
.... again....

Don't lose heart.
Watch My Man is a router, not a sprinter.
