Well, the Saudi Arabian dictators are pretty benevolent (except where the immigrants they bring in to do a lot of their work are concerned). They probably also give a bit too much leash to their fundamentalists (they get to stone and amputate a bit too often) but overall they give out a LOT of cash to the general population and it's not the worst place to live. As you say, it certainly beats Lybia and Iraq in "some" areas. The Kurds in Northern Iraq seem to be getting on rather well.
