This severance package nonsense is exactly why I admire the hell out of Jobs for running this show with one share of AAPL in his pocket. A lot can be thrown at Jobs, but he's not in this for Apple's money.

Dylan:

Why are "they" bringing this up now? Unless it's to move the stock lower and pick up shares cheap for the anticipated rise with the Jan event.

It's totally annoying that there isnt an easily understandable clearly articulated strategy for AAPL's comeback. I look at Intel as the model for proper corporate communication - clear expectations, understatement if anything. How long can you ride on your laurels?

Soup, Marc, Anybody: What's the best system (for home use including monitor, CD ROM, Printer) I can buy for less than $1700. MacChristmas present to my parents. I would spend more if the stock would have gone up instead of down! I want to help Apple with it's inventory but also purchase a machine that will be compatible with the big R when it comes out. Any suggestions appreciated. TIA
ScottT

Amelio hits jackpot ! Play it again Sam - 17th version since 7/97

But Nando Times' report is a little different as Richard Ash sounds like he wants to kick the old board's "ash" :

nando.net

Ash may be on to something if there was more than a CEO connection between Amelio and Markkula . Jobs had guts and did us all right by flushing them .

Unfortunately , though Jobs deserves continued admiration , this repetitive "news" hurts AAPL's stock and its sales .
