Shares of China Mobile Ltd. HK:941 -0.76% CHL -0.44% traded up 1.4% as an Apple Inc. AAPL +0.33% event set for next week in Beijing raised expectations the wireless carrier will start selling the iPhone.

The iPhone 5S and a less-pricey iPhone 5C smartphone are expected to make their debut at Apple's big event next week, but reports indicate we could also be in for an Apple TVannouncement.

A blog post from trade intelligence platform Panjiva — which Gigaom first spotted — reveals surfaced bills that show recent shipments sent to Apple from its supplier. Among the bills is one from Aug. 25 for a "set top box with communication function." Similar shipments were also billed on Aug. 11 and Aug. 18.

The receipts are from China-based BYD Precision Manufacture, which is a new Apple supplier.

The shipments could include an updated version of Apple TV or a new product related to the TV. With iOS 7 nearing its launch date, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if Apple released a model that builds on the new features.

Of course this could also just be a slightly updated Apple TV mode. In March 2012, Apple quietly updated the Apple TV to support 1080p video, while retaining the same price and form factor. This March, Apple made a subtle internal design-change to its third-generation Apple TV, which kept the functionality and performance the same, but less expensive to produce.

New AirPlay features are expected to come to iOS 7, including support for third-party game controllers. Moreover, OS X Mavericks will include using a monitor or TV set connected to an Apple TV as a separate monitor. An updated Apple TV with support for faster processor could make this sort of behavior even better.

The news comes soon after Apple sent out press invitations — featuring the tagline "this should brighten everyone's day" — for an event on Sept. 10 at its Cupertino, Calif. campus. Although leaked images and videos point to the launch of two new iPhones, it wouldn't be unusual to see Apple TV news as well.
