ATLANTA, Dec 8 (Reuters) - Yahoo Inc's (NASDAQ:YHOO) Web site was the information superhighway's most popular single pit stop in November, according to a report by Internet research firm RelevantKnowledge Inc released on Monday. More than 17.2 million "unique" users traveled last month to yahoo.com, where they accessed Yahoo's search engine, web index, news and other products. The company, in its report, "Top 25 .com Domains", said it counts "unique visitors," or singular individuals who may travel to a site, or "hit" it, rather than the aggregate "hits", so as to more accurately measure internet traffic. Sites operated by software companies Netscape Communications Corp (NASDAQ:NSCP) and Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) were the second and third most trafficked, the study said, with 13.1 million and 11.6 million unique visitors, respectively. Search engine excite.com, from Excite Inc (NASDAQ:XCIT),was fourth with 9.2 million, while online service America Online Inc was fifth with 8.7 million. Rounding out the top 10 were sites operated by Geocities, Infoseek Corp (NASDAQ:SEEK), Lycos Inc (NASDAQ:LCOS), Microsoft's Microsoft Network, and Digital Equipment Co's (NYSE:DEC) Altavista.
