..until there is some recognition of where the real elephant in our economy is resting

The Republicans are happy to work to pass a farm bill that is on that subject. It was only when the dems added food stamps to the "agricultural bill" that killed the deal. If they remove food stamps from the bill it will get done.

Dems didn't add it...........food stamps have been part of the farm bill since the 1970s:

A part of the bill since the 1970s and which helped smooth its passage, the removal of food stamps raised concerns among low-income families, farmers and lawmakers in both parties.
