would have had to be directed by some sophisticated intelligence, but that's all I can know and scientifically speaking Thats only what you've been indoctrinated this way to "think", don't confuse this with knowing. The world is what it is because of nature, as every function occurring in your body is right now is too .What happens on the microcosm level might seem mysterious but it is just as real as any other phenomena, we can assume that the emergent chemistry of a proto earth would be similarly as foreign as those conditions were themselves, but still obeying the laws of nature. Evoltution of the species could & probably would have taken many different routes & produced quite a different number forms & functions than we see. Many different ways it could have gone.
