D.Newberry: QWST is NOT just in the dark fiber business:

Qwest has called itself "a rapidly growing multimedia communications
company" not a seller of low margin dark fiber. Furthermore they are retaining for their own network a large percentage of the fiber. Somebody correctly me if I'm wrong here, but I believe the largest percentage of the fiber will remain Qwest's.

Please do a little more DD. Here's something to start with:

biz.yahoo.com

biz.yahoo.com

See also their Oct.6,1997 press release about their national branding campaign to businesses and consumers.

And if you don't think Qwest will be competing directly with AT&T, MCI and Sprint, please take a look at the Qwest website.
Here's their rates to the home:
qwest.net

D: Dark fiber sales are but one shrewd vehicle Qwest has used to finance their own network infrastructure.

There is so much more to Qwest's game plan than that. For a better grasp of their overall strategy, I would start by visiting their web site.

you make excellent points with thoughts well placed.
a "great company at an over-valued price" is exactly what
we have here....and a breather is in order.

if the market pulls back mid-month to get footing for a new
run in January, you'll see your "entry point" in Qwest.
