It would be different if we WERE trying to force the world to be something it doesn't want to be.

THEN, 3/4's of a Trillion a year for DEFENSE might be justified.

As it is, we don't seem to be trying to make the world DO anything, including treat us with respect.

A Trillion dollars and 30,000 killed and wounded in Iraq and the Iraqis don't give a Damn what we want.

When China does something for a country they GET their money's worth.

I know the whole thing about the surpluses don't really count because they didn't take into account Soc. Sec.

But, you have to admit, whether you give credit to Gingrich and the Congress or Clinton that was the CLOSEST we've gotten in a LONG time.
