At least that everyone is certain that the company will not go bankrupt.
The current problem is short term which shall be solved within quarters when the company fully converts its production to MR.

Question:
Which company(APM,RDRT or some other oversea manufacturers of disk heads) is most well structured and profitable under the current market condition?

When the stock is up, nold your sight short; when the stock is down hold your sight long :-))

Just curious :-II

I'm surprised to see the news release today by APM. Maybe it's the truning point for APM's attitude towards investment community. Somehow I believe it has something to do with the recent filling with SEC about the authorization of issuing additional shares. They don't really have to care the stock price if they're not going to issue more shares since the gain or loss doesn't really affect the company's business. Now they have to somehow pump up the price for the additional shares so they can get more investment money and that really affects their business. If you're short, I think you shouldn't stay short too long.

Ken, some comments:
Also don't forget that they will have project rampdown production in this quarter for WDC. Just think what the damage will be NEXT quarter when the project is completely gone.

What makes you feel that they aren't anticipating this in their forecasts in this pre-announcement? They are just as smart as both of us and can figure that out, too.

the $8M and $4M charges don't help matters. I also believe there will be more than that charged. Look at WDC; In less than a month their announced charge went from ~30M to ~80M!

The APM charges have definite, identified causes. And think of it this way, what else is APM going to take a charge for? MR transition? Anyone long or short should know that they would have to do this sooner or later, so it might as well be sooner.
