One doesnt get away with all this generalizing , there is a continuum of human world that modern archaelogy which is far more informed, more realistically views which clearly blends in a far wider perspective of the past. (like that Hellenizing influence which was huge or Cyrus the Persian kings influence or the Babylonian or the Egyptian, all had tremendous effect) As i said before some of the best elements & essences of the whole affair are identified clearly with that Nature loving Earth centered base, this goes far back (India /China are ancient too) dont even start to kid yourself. Before you get into all that other nonsense of geneology & who begat who, the first & most universally loved part of the Bible is Genesis. God so loved the world Even if not historically true, though it should get some acknowledgement, the story of enslavement out of Egypt worked its charm on the human imagination, so it goes, we can give that a check mark. (even if not true) Touchy feelie? What do you call washing his brother's feet? The sermon on the mount? Pretty touchie feelie to me and to that we give another check mark too. Idolatrous? That nonsense is highly debateable too, the mother Church loved & loves its symbols, iconography, yet another example of different strokes for different folks. You get literally stoned for that & hung by your balls in Islam, its not even considered an option. You see how normal discussions go , fairly considering & taking into view all facts in rspectful exchanges?
