kl, good question. here's my thought process. gtw can't compete on the low end due to poor mfg capabilities - they are no cpq or dell nor even close. we also know they don't know how to handle inventory.

i think they make money on their $1499 box IF they ship in massive volume. they didn't last q and they didn't make any money.

the high end is such a dead market right now that they have to offer a great system to even get a decent bite. otherwise, no sales.

when i look at the $500 price difference between a p166 system and a pII 266 system with more features i have to believe that most of the extra $$$ goes to intel and other suppliers - not to gtw.

the PII 266 has to be around $200-$300 more than the p166 alone. then you have the rest of the extra expenses.

the other drawback is that they don't ship these boxes in massive volume.

this q s/b very interesting :-) heck, the next 2 weeks s/b very interesting. i expect a warning.
