Mason, welcome back from vacation.

I find you effort very useful, thanks. My own portfolio is not as diversified as yours and differently weighted (nominal quantities of AMAT and LRCX; TER, CMOS and CYMI), but overall, day-to-day results are pretty similar. For now, sector trends seem to outweigh individual merits of semi-equip companies.

You may also find it useful to track the SOX index - there is a pronounced correlation between the market valuation of semis and of companies that sell them equipment. Lately though, I'd found that SOX gyrations have a lesser effect on semi-equips pricing. I construe this as a positive sign - maybe semi-equips had finally found the bottom.

I also want to thank you for your (probably long forgotten by you) post on CYMI thread about the merits of TER and CMOS. While Asian crisis may hurt spending on new fabs, it will give an additional impetus towards improving productivity of existing fabs. Equipment modernization drive will hopefully benefit companies like CYMI, but an even safer bet is that with productivity increases testing will become the next bottleneck (MU had already found it out). Based on this line of thought, I'd bought TER and now CMOS.

Regards,

Y.
