That may be true for small cap issues but tends not to be true for mid-large cap firms. Does anyone on this board have the direct telephone numbers to Quantum's CEO and CFO? I bet you that amny of the more influential analysts do. Although I agree that there is skill involved in asking questions of IR departments, sales managers, distributors, or the guy that sweeps the floor in the shipping and receiving department, asking the right questions of someone who does not have the right answers is worthless. When the shit hits the fan, IR is often the last to know or give out critical information.
