Plata Latina Minerals (PLA-V) ore horizon concept, which focuses on high-grade epithermal silver deposits.

PLA model is based on the research and experience of president and CEO Mike Clarke, who started working on silver-gold vein formations in Mexico's prolific San Dimas district back in the early 1970s. Clarke developed an appreciation for epithermal-style deposits, and ended up writing his doctorate thesis on the subject at University of Arizona.

During my work on these high-grade deposits it really struck me just how blind these things could be,” Clarke explains. “We did a lot of work on fluid inclusions and other variables, and came up with a conclusion that in large part it had to do with the hydrothermal fluid flow paths and how these things often reach the surface, if at all, in very meagre proportions. That seemed to support the observation we had, which was that you go could go around and be standing on one of these high-grade deposits and not see anything.”

Properties Naranjillo, Vaquerias, Palo Alto, Los Agustinos, and La Joya.

We had our ore horizon model and combined that with the observation that you get these tremendous high-grade districts that occur in a tight belt,” Clarke continues. “We went over a lot of government maps and geophysics, and bought an office in Mexico, which was basically an old Toyota. As you drive between the deposits in the Mexican silver belt you see very little, and so we decided to look for areas where you see indications on the surface that could point to an underlying district.

Clarke says the 307-sq.km Naranjillo property in Guanajuato, Mexico, immediately rose to the top of the list. We had the alteration on the surface, which was beautiful stuff, but we really didn't find any silver during sampling,” Clarke adds. “For the most part it wasn't even detectable, but that fit into the model we had. It took a bit of courage, but once we saw results from that initial drill program we felt we'd been successful finding one of these buried projects.

PLA drilling at Naranjillo has unveiled the presence of a multi-vein, silver-gold system. The company initially discovered the Villa vein when hole N-10 cut 7.75 metres true width of 3,181 grams silver per tonne and 13.29 grams gold per tonne from 585 metres down hole. Subsequent drilling has extended Villa over a strike length of 500 metres, with the vein system remaining open to the north and south.

PLA continues to put together more data on Naranjillo's sub-surface geology, and hopes to get drills mobilized on the site for a follow-up program by early 2014. Additional exploration is also planned at Vaquerias, where preliminary drilling — targeting historic mine workings — intersected 0.55 metre grading 727 grams silver and 0.24 gram gold from 168 metres depth in hole V-4.

Plata Latina Minerals (PLA-V) Aug 13, '14 is pleased to announce that it has arranged for a non-brokered private placement of up to 12 million units at a price of C$0.10 per Unit for gross proceeds of up to C$1.2 million.

Each Unit comprises of one Plata Latina Common Share and one half of one common share purchase warrant. Each whole Warrant entitles the holder to purchase one additional Share at a price of C$0.25 per Share for a period of two years following the close of the transaction.

The net proceeds from the financing will be used for the next drill program at Naranjillo, where a discovery is already in progress. The drill program contemplates six holes (4,750 metres) to optimize orientation of subsequent drilling for resource definition. Drilling at Naranjillo, which is located approximately 35 kilometres from Guanajuato and on the same structural trend that hosts Guanajuato's veins, has identified a target having geology identical to that hosting Guanajuato's Veta Madre ore bodies. Planned drilling is therefore set to explore both the Guanajuato Veta Madre-style setting as well as neighbouring veins. Proceeds will also be used for general corporate purposes.
