At least with minorities such as blacks and Hispanics, they might have legitimate reasons to view everything in a racial context, but not these white guys. I would rather have it out there for genuine consideration than tucked into our mysterious subconscious, where it can fester. The only problem I have is the extent to which these 'White Guys' insist upon politicizing it as a useful gambit for partisan agendas. I find that personally hurtful and believe it harms the efforts to improve race relations in society.
