Bentway,
I don't really see how he can NOT give them up, now. If he refuses, a UN coalition is a done deal, INCLUDING Russia.
It's a sham. Syria gets away with using chemical weapons, and Russia gets America off of Assad's back. Why wouldn't Syria agree to "give them up now"?

Besides, any future gas attacks can then be blamed on the rebels, which Syria has been doing anyway.

No one really believes that Russia and Syria are serious in disarming, except maybe Nancy Pelosi, who is the dimmest bulb in Congress anyway.

Assad just needs to pretend to hand over SOME WMD's. And Putin says Obama must RENOUNCE the use of force against Syria.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Syria’s chemical arms handover will only work if the US and its allies renounce the use of force against Damascus.

"Of course, all of this will only mean anything if the United States and other nations supporting it tell us that they're giving up their plan to use force against Syria. You can’t really ask Syria, or any other country, to disarm unilaterally while military action against it is being contemplated," President Putin said on Tuesday.

Precisely. All Assad has to do is look at what is patrolling offshore to see what his options are.
