the best I can tell is that you think that actions that are not legally defined as "criminal", but are "bad" by your definition, should still be punished as crimes.

It's hard to have any discussion with you because you can't seem to separate something that we would probably both agree is "wrong" from those things that are addressable through the legal system.

The United States was founded on the concept of the rule of law, not arbitrary interpretation and punishment of wrongness.

It seems like you might be better off living in a country that has sharia law, which is much more arbitrary and can allow for flexible interpretation and punishment if there is no written statute.
