Paul,

One thing about all the TCGI takeover talk. Today's story mentions GTE (as well as T) as players who NEED a CLEC or two. If by no other reason than supply and demand, one has to bet that WCII will be taken out eventually.

The trading today included a few substantial blocks at the ask. Typical of market maker activity (read: not necessarily supply/demand driven) WCII traded downward late in the day although the money flow was extremely positive. All four of these blocks traded at 28 3/16.

14:47 76,200
14:56 261,000
15:24 225,000
15:31 20,200

On WCII's lack of enthusiasm about selling out. Do you think that is more of an obstacle to a takeover or a means to attract a better deal in a potential bidding war? (ie. hostile offer, white knight ups bid, etc.)

Nice to see the increased activity today, was getting a bit lethargic there for a while, huh?

Mark

Yes Paul, there is the rumor of GTE taking TCGI. At the same time TCGI is rumored to take ACCC. Further, the CEO of ACCC died today.

It is written that TCGI's junkbonds have risen. I agree that TCGI appears to be a more likely candidate. The reason may be that they need the GTE infusion to swallow ACCC. In other words----cheaper for GTE to get in.

Winstar is saying---we'll do well in wireless with or without buyouts. However, if you want us you need big bucks. Suits me. It's like when do you play your Ace in poker ? Desperation or major coup ?

If anything I have said is close to reality, we not only have great telecom management but great poker players as well.
