Obama picking Summers for Fed chief — if Nikkei has it right, that is September 13, 2013, 7:33 AM Bloomberg Lawrence Summers Buzzing about overnight was a potential scoop coming from Japan’s Nikkei newspaper. Citing unnamed sources, a report on its website Friday says Larry Summers will be tapped to become the next Fed chief by President Obama, possibly by the end of next week. The report says the Summers nod could follow the Federal Open Market Committee meeting.
