Wonderful example of Christian love and Christianity in general. "Enlightened by the Holy Spirit!" You really put your foot in your mouth with that post! :-)

Nothing esoteric about it & that just about describes the debate in a nutshell doesn't it? Which is why it all keeps flying right over your head. French Huguenots forced to flee, were in Florida that early and over to Louisiana as the European Wars of Religion & massacres were getting into a full blown dynastic mode, forcing these human migrations.

The "LOL" goes right back to you, for what was this new radical trend in thought that eventually with the aid of natural sciences would lead to a break away from beliefs in devils & demons, roaming spirits of the night? Institutionalized rituals and the superstitious preoccupation which was so obsessed with death, the dead & the afterlife, as any pagan belief system before?

I think any semi educated person can see where this was leading (you may never get it), some clung to the old, new American superstitious revivals sprung up, some new generations of free minded men saw there could be human dignity & life without reliance on the supernatural.

(But not free at last, that last migration is still actively in progress.)
