As one of your links stated......................all National Forests have an abundance of dispersed camping sites. Most don't have fire rings, but rather pits built by past campers that are usually made from the local rocks. Some of them are pretty elaborate, most pretty crude. We've spent most of our time camping in the Mt. Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest. If I'm going to camp alone, I stay in camp grounds and get to know the hosts really well.

Have never been to Pike's Peak. Wanted to last time we visited Colo, but our itinerary was already full.

Next time!
