WASHINGTON, DC, U.S.A., 1997 DEC 3 (NB) -- REPEAT/ By Newsbytes Staff.
MCI Communications [NASDAQ:MCIC] said it will deploy 3Com's
[NASDAQ:COMS] x2 56 kilobits per second (Kbps) high-speed analog
technology for high-speed local and 800 dial-up connectivity to the
Internet.

Beginning today, MCI's dial-up customers in most major cities will
benefit from faster modem speeds and quicker download times. MCI has
completed its x2 rollout in 280 cities to date with a total of 300
local dial cities planned for support by the end of this month.

MCI is using 3Com's Total Control remote access concentrators,
designed for carriers, Internet service providers (ISPs) and
corporate enterprises that need to support hundreds, thousands or
millions of remote users or Internet subscribers.
