I shop Costco and Walmart for different things. Things I can buy in bulk and gasoline, it's Costco. Things I can't, it's WalMart.

Costco employees seem happy. WalMart employees seem pissed off and/or depressed. I think that's the difference between conservative and liberal America, in a nutshell.

Same here..........I have to admit I've only been in a Walmart store once but it was not a nice experience. But Costco is always great...........the employees seem to take pride in the store and their jobs

These differences don't happen by chance.

WalMart doesn't sell $16,000 bottles of scotch and COSTCO doesn't offer single candy bars.

A disease free mind might puzzle out the fact they're different parts of an unknowably complex mosaic, each improving lives for (mostly) different people.

If (when) either fades it'll be because a better alternative is offered and accepted by a sufficient number of consumers, not by the ignorant intuitions of the contemptibly stupid.

OF COURSE. CostCo employees are vastly overpaid for the skills they have. Walmart employees earn more than they're worth but have been led to believe they should earn more.

If I were in the unskilled labor market I'd be trying like hell to go to work at CostCo, where I could be overpaid, too. You would, too.
