If you're really GAMBLING your entire retirement, you shouldn't be doing it. At least not unless your retirement is long away. And especially not if others are dependent on you.

As for resource stocks, that (oil) is what enabled me to retire early, though energy related stocks (including energy infrastructure outfits like Kinder Morgan) are currently a little under a half of my retirement investments. Investing in resource stocks doesn't mean putting everything you've got in speculative Canadian penny stocks and warrants. I've invested in the o&g sector for over 3 decades but never owned a warrant or option.

"playing the game" The wrong attitude to have. Some people are better off having someone manage their investments.
