you're still on that San Augustine, St Augustine meme.

Ah, so we have the old geezer using the word "meme", which is such an intriguing word in our modern lexicon so ingenuously introduced by Richard Dawkins. Very enlightened of you, more to come.
en.wikipedia.org

The memes of God's country, American Manifest Destiny and the Alamo, we proud warriors of the Lone Star State and black gold. Now we get to observe this dragging debate, the entertaining spectacle of the mighty Texans wrestling with the decision to embrace teachings of evolution in the 21rst century. That outcome should be a no brainer, such is the power of memes who's time has come, watch & learn.

POPE FRANCIS: 30 Photos and Memes to Love and Share (little steps grandpa)
stpeterslist.com

by SPL Staff on Mar 15, 2013 • 4:49 pm 13 Comments
Listers, habemus papam, Franciscum! We’ve collected some of the more popular photographs and memes circling social media. Regarding sources, almost all the photos were simply being shared on Facebook or Twitter; however, a good source for these memes and others is the highly recommended Catholic Memes.

A couple notable comments on our first Jesuit Pope from his brother Jesuit. 1 From the founder of Ignatius Press:

“There are Jesuits and Jesuits. He is a loyal, articulate, courageous defender of the Magisterium. He also has a great love and concern for the poor – which causes some to classify him as ‘liberal.’ Well, he’s just as liberal as John Paul II and Benedict XVI, but he’s had the experience of living [in] poverty for many years.” - Father Joseph Fessio, S.J.

Also, in a tweet brought to our attention by a lister, self-described Catholic apologist Steve Ray tweeted another quote by Fr. Fessio:

SPL has also posted a list of notable quotes by Cardinal Bergoglio now Pope Francis. In Quotes from Cardinal Bergoglio, now Pope Francis, on 7 Moral Issues, the Cardinal states that abortion is a “death penalty” for children – even those conceived in rape – and that homosexual marriage is a “real and dire anthropological throwback.”

SPL did not create this graphic, but it is an interesting take.

Pope Francis declined the papal motorcade and took the bus back with the Cardinals.

Regarding the image below, the AP reports: Pope John Paul II shakes hands with West German Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the Vatican’s chief heresy-fighter, during Christmas greetings in the Clementine Hall at the Vatican City on Friday, Dec. 20, 1985. (AP Photo/Massimo Sambucetti) SPL has serious doubts whether the man in the middle is actually Cardinal Bergoglio, now Pope Francis, as it is being touted on social media, etc.

This photo is widely reported to be featuring three popes at once: Bl. Pope John Paul II, the then Cardinal Ratzinger, and the man in the back is reported to be Cardinal Bergoglio, now Pope Francis (See Disclaimer Above).

Update (3-19-13): During Pope Francis’ inaugural mass, a photo was taken of Vice President Joe Biden in the crowd. The man lends himself to being turned into a meme so we obliged and published Disapproving Joe Biden: 5 Memes from the Papal Inauguration. Enjoy.
