It can be very plausibly maintained that babies are atheists and that this is by default the natural state of man, ones life, growth & survival seen as not dependent on belief in God would also then follow. Thus the burden of proof would fall always directly on the shoulders of any who make such a claim that god exists or belief in a God necessary (always the case anyways).

Babies are by nature good & innocent thus creating an implicit argument for atheism, thereby being in accord with human nature is good & right. Even Jesus said as much, very strongly urged that the nature of children had them closely alligned with the truth of heaven & god. Here we have a strong argument that there exists a state that doesn't require being reborn, baptised or any such added structure since what exists already is already good.

Jesus said much about the little children, hes the master after all, he spoke the words not i, the playwright Shaw once said

"We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing."

Interesting , very rational dicussions going on that Catholic site like " Is Atheism a Religion?"
strangenotions.com

Or this about Time's recent cover page story "The Childfree Life" ( was changing diapers when 18yrs)
strangenotions.com

I like Catholics, they've been challenged & are growing , the world has evolved with their influence much lessoned, but since their hallmark is to endure in a universe of change, its an interesting study how they adapt the message. Always some of the most formidable intellects, they have preserved much tradition & history yet still steeped in that mystic inconography. Too bad about the Protestants rejecting all that but they did go for the musical end, another great tradition of the west.

Music alone is one of the more powerful mediums on the planet, from just yearly attendence to concerts & the industry as a whole & film to iTune streams. Music overcomes barriers & unites, this we've seen many times before.

"babies aren't atheists"

Most of them are atheists. Probably 99.99999% of babies do not believe in Gods.
