I never consider buying options as a smart play. About 90% of all options expire worthlessly. And even in the case of the stock ending up in-the-money at expiration, the time premium simply cut deeply into profit.

Well, buying VQSBV at 3/4 will require SHVA to close at 13 1/4 plus commission on 2/20/98 to breakeven.

If you think SHVA will get there, why don't you just buy the stock now and get 25% gain rather than hoping for a push on the option play. As always, I think options are too risky for part-time investors like most of us.

IMO, the option play will only make sense if you expect SHVA to reach at least 15 at expiration...
