People aren't going to give away products that they've worked hard for year to develop, sometimes decades. Even when a nonprofit or university makes a new medical discovery, they have to sell it off to for-profit developers in order for its development to be brought to market.

I know it's convenient to marginalize his remarks in an extreme way, but I don't think that's his point.

You do UNDERSTAND how non-profits work, don't you? People make an excellent living at non-profits, all expenses are paid for, they just don't make a profit. Your problem is that GREED is in your DNA and you can't see any reason for anyone to do anything unless they get rich.
