Well, I think this is just about it. This feels like the last big bottom in the summer. A major instution just sold its shares to depress the price. I'm gonna buy long options now. Ooops - just looked at the option board. A zillion other people have the same idea (21,361 contracts on Jan99 30's).

Apple is good long term bet. By summer you will be able to run Apple OS on Intel or PPC and it will be UNIX based - the same version used by Sun and others (and loved by universities, government, ISP and MIS managers). NT is a not-so-successful attempt to copy UNIX and make it backwardly compatable to MS-DOS.

Apple will have the clout to manufacture and sell low end as well as high end UNIX (Rhapsody) machines (unlike Sun).

Another point - the use of computers in graphic arts is not decreasing - it is increasing. We are now entering the phase of "computer to plate" where the computers burn the plates directly (no film). More work for Apple OS. Why do they not like windows? Because of its historical difficulty with fonts and postscript in general. I work around these places all the time. If you think they are going to scrap their MACs you're a real dreamer. And Rhapsody? With display postscript and a solid UNIX platform they think they died and went to heaven.

The war is not over - it begins in January.
