Great video, back to evolution, when i consider what young 26yr old Darwin found on his first voyage, those many finches, tortoises & marine iguanas, one of science's greatest theories just flies right into your face, falls into your lap really. In some ways its not that big a deal or that Darwin was so brilliant, just the times surrounding that era were so absolutely dense. God made everything including all the species in 6 days, rested on the 7th and nothing changed ever after and that was it, you did not contradict this its biblical right?

Here you have America going into its Second Great Awakening in 1820 where the religionists are all going back to Biblical literacy & more pure primitive proto Christianity just at the same time as Darwin's first voyage. The rise of Joseph Smith's Mormons, Baptists & the Shakers & other evangelicals, the old arguments of the Trinity, total depravity, original sin and other such gems of the human intellect being replaced with a real explosion of fundamental social gospels of good works & striving for perfection the 19th century.

But here's what strikes me as the oddest thing of all, the greatest observation Darwin makes, all Nature is involved every moment in the intense struggle for survival, the great engine that drives evolutionary change & adaptation. One has to be a complete idiot not to see this is not only completely compatible with the religious view of fallen man, original sin, but explains it even more completely in both literal, scientific & metaphorical, that is, why man is mostly the way he is.

Here Darwin offers the perfect truth, they're too dumb , too stupid, to wanting to pluck out their eyes instead of just seeing this total reality. Does human history in its totality look like one long struggle for survival from the very beginning? It sure does, century after century without end.

This is where we stumble on the real need for a supernatural being, because human beings are still trapped in this aboriginal "dream time", just a step above our primate cousins. To not see this same basic comptetition for survival & brutality , sans supernatural, even in the modern world, is to be totally blind.

It goes right over their heads, whoosh...but this is really simple stuff, all around us but the fundamentalist "dream time" movement is still entrenched
