RE:Maybe, but it will vastly impact US standards of living.

Will impact? There were only four states(including DC) that have seen real income increase in the period between 2000 and 2012.

The Age of Obama, By the Numbers

(John Hinderaker) The Census Bureau reported today that a record 46.5 million Americans are currently living in poverty, more than at any time in our history. That is fewer people, however, than the 23,116,928 households now receiving food stamps, more than the entire Northeastern United States (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania).

Let’s add one more: during President Obama’s first term, median INCOME of American households dropped by $2,627.

Is this what Barack Obama’s supporters expected when they voted for him in 2008? Record poverty, declining incomes, unprecedented numbers depending on federal poverty programs, millions leaving the labor force in despair? Presumably not. Hey, it’s a good thing he’s so adept at foreign policy! No, wait…

Impact our standing of living? Probably. Noticeably impact? Maybe. Impact enough to say the nation is ruined? I doubt it.

Is the UK ruined today? I'd say no. Its poorer than the US, its poorer than it could have been without its post WWII socialist turn. That turn was more extreme than anything Obamacare will do, and it damaged the economy more than Obamacare is likely to, still its not like the UK is Zimbabwe or Haiti, or North Korea. Its richer now than it was then (if not as much richer as a number of other countries).
