lonto, thanks for the information. The information I received came from two registrars, one from a private institution and another from a public institution. Many times averages give a false picture of what is actually going on since the top cost schools can have a greater weight on the data. Guess that is why we compare the mean with the median in statistics. Additionally, today we see more and more students carrying a lighter load of 12 credit hours. During my years in undergraduate students normally carried 16 - 18 credit hours and graduated in 4 years. Today, it appears that is the exception. The cost in 1987 in the Doctorate program was $280 per credit hour. I hate to think what is would be today.

In Missouri, IMO, for the $ one of the best school is Truman State University, Kirksville, MO. But, it gets as cold as Chicago in the Winter. Add to the cost of books, and other fees the cost does run up. I really do not know how some of our kids and grandkids are going to be able to make it through college without scholarships, grants, or other outside help. Also, they must take the appropriate courses which will prepare them for the jobs of the future.
