I'm not saying it is the popular thing to do, as it may not be. I just think it is a battle for the future of the country. What polls are saying, in effect, is, "No matter how bad it may be, we think the better thing to do is to fix it." Unfortunately, this legislation is so bad it is beyond repair.

I don't know if you encounter this in your work sometimes, but I do. You just look at something and say, "You know, I'd be better off to rip it out and start all over."

I think Buffett's recognition of this fact last week was significant, in that he has been an Obama fan all along. For him to speak out as he did was a pretty big deal in my mind. Not that he is suddenly the health care guru, but I think he would have supported keeping it if there were any way.
