Have Patience Brendan... You are going to see 12 million drive sold announcement any time now (well maybe only 11 million, but we shall see!) You were right about the other companies not having a clue! They are just plain wrong. You really don't need backward compat... look to the future... after all you can pick up a 3.5" floppy drive for a few bucks and there is still pleny of support in the bios for them and the physical space to mount them (or to mount them as needed in laptops to transfer old data and files to the HD and then to the Zip!!

I really think this is a NON ISSUE now. The Zip is standard and will continue to "kick butt" in this respect. The Zip is on a roll and cannot be stopped by any of the drives that I see on the horizon. The Nomai thing is a bit more worrisome, but I thing the legal beagles will finally put this to bed as well. See ya later... Mel

Brendan: That info that you posted about Caleb's drive sounds
remarkably similar to someone posting on MF who presented the
same unsubstantiated numbers. In fact, he claimed the price to
be around $50, the company spokesperson said no info like that
was announced. This is a guy who claims that people will kill
him if he tells too much, that he owns more shares of IOM than
we can imagine, etc, etc.

I would like you to identify your source for the drive&disk
price information that you posted regarding Caleb's drive, if
you don't mind.

Thank You,

Spank
