<i must say that i look forward to the public offer of Teledesic
sometime between now and the year 2000 when the skies are
filled with low orbit satellites, and everyone owns a dish
the size of a frisbee.>

Jerome, go out and buy a copy of "Being Digital" by Nicholas Negroponte'. Easy read. He explores the bandwidth limitations inherent in satellite communications, and other interesting topics.

Bottom-line: There's but a fraction of bandwidth in the satellite skies compared to glass fiber. Full, two-way streaming digital media transmissions in air space??? Ain't gonna happen. God I hate being the messenger sometimes! Sorry :(

Jerome, I also see great possibilities for satellite stocks
in the intermediate future (2-5yrs.). However, the dishes
I've seen, DirecPC for instance, offer downloading cap-
abilities only, still need a telephone line to uplink. Will
Teledesic be offering true 2-way access?

I don't see satellites as being competitors with fiber, anymore
than airlines are competitors with taxicabs. There should
be plenty of demand for both.
